To me blogging is like facebook statuses and not for the obvious connection. With blogs and those status updates we are constantly trying to put ourselves out to the public casually but still cool. We try to make these updates and posts clever and obsecure so only some of our "friends" may understand, or try to be funny so we get 15 likes as if it makes our self worth higher knowing someone appreciates my humor. And then we have the person who just says what he wants to say about every single thing in his life. All three piss me off because we are just so fake on a means of attempting to be real.
Hell while writing this blog i found myself falling into the same pitfalls i criticize. I guess its just inherent when we put our thoughts on the internet, we constantly try to put the best without seeming to be trying too hard. Its like a continuous first date in which we cant tell if we just want sex, a relationship, or to get the fuck out.

and for the record the rent is too damn high.
Hi.
ReplyDeletePeople blog for many reasons, and I know many writers and artists who would put their stuff out there not for the consideration of who is reading or viewing it, but simply to free their minds. Just another point of view. Though having followers or wanting people to read what you have to say, doesn't necessarily make you egotistical, in my opinion. I think that people have to speak. And I feel like we are living in an increasingly superficial world where stimulating conversation is a penny a dozen instead of the dime that it should be.
ReplyDeleteAfter actually posting a blog, I understand that methodology completely. I feel like a sort of weight been lifted off my mind. Whether i would have felt the same relief from writing in a journal, i have no idea. But i do know that perhaps this is meant to be our generation's journal as email is becoming the formal way of contacting people. Perhaps i will gain some enlightenment from this blog by hopefully starting some discussions. that would be great. I actually had a website idea of creating my own forum solely discussing topics of merit but it fell through when the company i was going through bottomed out. who knows? maybe this will become my brain child.
